I used ravelry to find a flower to attach to two of them. Or you can google free crochet flower pattern.
They are very cute! i like the brim,
ReplyDeleteHi--I prefer the brim too. It's an old news-boy style that's quite popular these days. Thanks to your blog, I've made a couple of these.
ReplyDeleteLately I've been determined to learn how to knit. I'm coming along nicely, but for some reason I just don't understand knitting the way that I understand crochet. I'm hoping that this comes with time and practice.
I enjoy your blog, Victoria
Thank you both! I love the brim as well.
ReplyDeleteVictoria, hang in there on the knitting. I started slow with that too. And now I love it. I go through spurts where I won't touch a crochet hook for weeks. :O) You will get there. Luck!
They are all so cute! Love them!
ReplyDeleteI just want to say I love these hats! They are so adorable! I am making one this very minute. I am just wondering, do you have a patter for these for kids between 2yrs and about 7?? Or do you think this is easy to modify? I have been crocheting for years, but it was all really simple no pattern stuff, and I have now decided to take on the patterns and try to do different things! It's fun, but I'm still not sure about changing things. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteso pretty! thanks for sharing these adorable hats. love the color combinations.
ReplyDeleteIt would be very easy to modify!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing; I am going to be making some of these for a friend. She's a photographer and asked me to make her a few. I enjoy reading your blog. Thanks for the patterns.
ReplyDeleteI want to make one of these for my 12 year old. How do you adjust the pattern to make it bigger besides the size of hook you use? Do you add stitches?
ReplyDeleteYup, add some more increase rounds. It shouldn't take too many.
ReplyDeleteI love your pattern and am working on making one at this moment and am a little confused on part of your pattern. Rnd 5 doesn't have a completed stitch count. Rnd 4 you end up with 43 stitches and on rnd it shows a stitch count of 43 stitches. I just want to make sure I'm making it right so that the brim count comes out right. Thanks for the pattern though its very cute! :)
ReplyDeleteOops meant rnd 4 and rnd 6 have the same stitch count.
ReplyDeleteIs this for smaller girls? I want to make one for my neice who is 10. Do you think I would need to increase the size?
ReplyDeleteThis is great! A friend of mine bought one of these hats from someone and wanted me to make her some in different colors. Her baby girl is starting to out grow the one she has also. Now I can make them! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am rather new to crocheting- what size head will the pattern you provided fit?
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of making the none-brimmed hat for my niece with a 21" head (sounds funny)
and the brimmed for 20 1/2
how would you suggest I modify your pattern. Thanks for the help!!
Rnd 5) ch1, 2hdc in same st, 1hdc in next 3sts, * 2hdc in next st, 1hdc in next 2sts, repeat from * around
ReplyDelete^^ Should this read as 1hdc in next 3sts on the repeat??
I can't get this pattern to work. Something from round 4 to round 6. I think round 5 is posted wrong??? If you do the 1hdc in the next 3sts in Rnd 5 there is way too many stitches and if you repeat the Rnd 4 for Rnd 5 still too many sts?? Help!!
ReplyDeleteWhat am I doing wrong? I'm new to crocheting but hoped I could manage this pattern. For some reason the sides didn't come out straight up & down like pictured. My sides are more rounded, puffy. Did I miss-count the number of stitches on Rnd 6? I'm so disappointed...
ReplyDeleteMaybe I missed this on here but what size is this hat?
ReplyDeleteHi, let me start by saying that I am loving your patterns. I haven't tried many, but your finished product is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI am fairly new at crochet. I attempted to make the non-brim beanie. It turned out quite a bit different than yours. I thought I was following the pattern correctly, but somewhere along the way (I am thinking rows 14 &15) I did something wrong. My beanie came out with a floppy bottom. It was still very cute and I sent it to my friend anyway. She said it looked like a baby bonnet and loved it. But I am just wondering what I did wrong to make it look so different from yours. Please help.
Very nice hats! Thanks for sharing the pattern! But as previously asked, what size are they? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteA+ Baby Crochet is up and running; will have free coloring pages and free baby info very soon.
ReplyDeleteTake care and God bless you,

Your hats are very pretty and nice.
I love this pattern, but as Joyful and Frenzymom mentioned, Round 5 is coming out with too many stitches, which puts each additional row off. I've ripped out five times now, am pulling my hair out and still cannot get the amount of stitches you posted. Help?

ReplyDeleteHi, it's me again. I went to your other pattern called "Meagan Wants You..." (a pattern just like this one with a brim, for an older child) and this is posted in regards to the chain stitches...(does not count as first dc now and through out.) Does this apply to the chain 1 in this pattern? If that's the case, that's probably where I'm picking up my extra stitches. For those of you wanting a pattern for an older child, she has it posted on this site at: http://vallieskids.blogspot.com/2009/06/meagan-wants-you.html
ReplyDeleteJust curious if you have a pattern for the flowers on these hats? I have searched and can't find one that I like that is similar...I really like the ones you've got in the pictures. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm with HeatherD on this. Mine is coming out with a brim like a sunhat. I am making this for my baby (due in 5 weeks), but I don't want it too look too much like a sunhat in winter. Help!!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Any idea when the corrected pattern can be put up?
ReplyDeleteThanks!

This has been asked multiple times with no response...but I will ask again. What age child does this fit? You say baby in the post, but that could be newborn up to probably 2 years old! I need a pattern like this that will fit a 12 month old. Will this work?
ReplyDeleteIt's a baby size hat, she has another pattern like this for toddler-child size
ReplyDeleteIts realy awesome and also nice blog.

ReplyDeleteI just Finished two Of These Newsboy Hats And Your Instructions Are Perfectly Clear, They Are Adorable! ThankYou For Sharing! Love Your Blog!
ReplyDeleteFor whatever reason, when I'm done all rounds, it looks like a frisbee. The rounds to make the body of the hat aren't working in my favour! Suggestions as to why? thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteThank you for one of the cutest and fastest hats ever, made the boy brim one and love it Thanks, I found your hat through Repeat Crafter Me. Thank You both
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of making the none-brimmed hat for my niece with a 21" head (sounds funny) ... floppybrimhat.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for this great pattern. I made a hard hat out of the pattern. My son works on an oil rig. I put the company logo on the front.
