Quickly Brimmed
For this one I am using double strands of Red Heart Super Saver and a K hook The blue one is used with one strand of Lion Brand Homespun. It actually came out a tiny bit begger than the red heart ones. These fit about a 21-23 inch head, but smaller hook or even bigger hook can change the size, also adding or taking off an increase row
Rnd 1) ch3, 11dc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st to top of first dc, 11dc
Rnd 2)ch2 (does not count as st, now and throughout) 2dc in each st around, 22dc
Rnd 3) ch2, 2dc in same st as joining, dc in next st, * 2dc in next st, dc in next st, repeat from * around. 33dc
Rnd 4) ch2, 2dc in same st, dc in next 2sts, * 2dc in next st, dc in next 2sts, repeat from * around, 44dc
Rnd 5-10) ch2, dc in same st and in each st around, fasten off
For brim attach yarn closer to the front away from the joining of rounds.
Row 1) 2sc in first st, sc accross 18sts, 2sc in next sts, ch 1, turn
Row 2-4) ch1 sc in same st and in each st accross, ch1, turn
Row 5-7) ch1, sc first 2sts together, sc accross to last 2sts, sc last 2sts together. Do not turn, continue around side of brim to sc evenly around hat and across brim.
Fasten off weave in ends. You can embellish this hat with buttons, flowers, ribbon, all kinds of things. Make it girly or not! Have fun with it, please give my site credit for the pattern, but use your own projects for what ever you like. I would love to hear from you by email or on Ravelry if you are on there. I love seeing what others have made from my patterns.
cute

ReplyDeleteLove your patterns. Thanks for putting them out there :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this pattern. The hats came out very cute. I'm new to crocheting and I'm very excited to try this out. I have one question... when you say you used double strands, does that mean you held to threads of yarn together as you crocheted? What would happen if you only used one? Thanks for the help :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this pattern! I love it! I made my daughter a green one with a pink flower on the side. Its adorable. Your daughter is beautiful as well!

ReplyDeletedid you put plastic in the brim?
ReplyDeleteThis pattern looks so cute, it's a bit of a disappointment though, the seam in the back takes away from the rest of it. Its anyone having the same problem?
ReplyDeleteHi, I really love your patterns but I have a question about row !. Do I make 11chs and connect it together before row 1?
ReplyDeleteOnly chain 3, then put 11 dc in the 3rd chain from the hook. Then sl to the first dc. Row one completed with 11 dc's. Then ch 2 to start row 2.

DeleteHi! This hat is exactly what I've been looking for! Problem is I'm new to crocheting and trying to teach myself, so that being said I'm a bit confused. When I do the ch2 after each round-or at the start of each round, there's a real gap between stitches. Is this normal? Should I be crocheting into those chain stitches at the end of the round?
ReplyDeleteShe states that you must put your first SC into the same stitch as your CH2. If you start your SC in the same space as the Ch-2 you will not have a gap.
DeleteI made this hat n added a crochet band with 2 buttons.....such an easy pattern. Took couple of hrs and came out so cute.
